How to Choose the Right Clothes for Pole Dancing
Are you getting ready for your first pole dancing class and can’t decide what to wear? Basically, everything you’ll read about pole dancing will advise you to wear as little as possible. But what exactly does that mean? What clothes should you buy? We’ve been there and that’s exactly why we’ve put together this introduction to pole dancing clothing for you.
Leggins and trainers
It’s ok to take ¾ leggings, running leggings or yoga pants and trainers with you as you are likely to do a warm up and you can avoid being chilly. You will also be less nervous if you can start the class wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. However, for the majority of the class, you’ll need to wear something else.
Shorts
Booty shorts or yoga shorts are a necessity. Because you’ll be using your legs to grip the pole, your bare skin will help you hold onto the pole and stop you from slipping. They need to be tight and should be made of a material that will make it easy for you to move. It’s always better to have hot pants that do not have any unnecessary seams, waistband or legband and, therefore, they do not cut in anywhere. But you’ll find what kind of shorts suits you the best over time.
Sports Bra
Since some moves require the use of your stomach and you could not hold onto the pole if you were wearing a T-shirt, you should wear a sports bra. But what bra to choose for pole dance? You don’t need anything fancy , all you need is a bra that will allow you to move comfortably and will provide support. However, if it’s your first time attending a pole dancing class and you don’t feel comfortable wearing only a bra, you might as well wear a top. It’s more important to feel comfortable and focus on what’s going on rather than being nervous because of what you’re wearing.
Shoes
It’s pretty common to do the class in bare feet. However, you’ve probably noticed many pole dancers wear high heels. It really spices up the moves and makes you feel sexy but that’s not the only reason. High heels give you the correct posture and height, giving you longer to spin and generally help towards developing a strong inner core.
You generally need several things from your pole dancing clothes: stretch, good fit, comfort, style and necessary support so you can only focus on the moves. Make sure whatever you’re wearing makes you feel confident and comfortable without feeling too naked at the same time. Your clothes should not be baggy or loose as they can become wrapped up when in contact with the pole. And our last tip would be to find some bras and hot pants with fun colours or a pattern you like. You’ll instantly feel more confident and we’re sure you’ll love pole dancing as much as we do very soon!
